How to Factory reset Google Chromecast?

FACTORY RESET CHROMECAST:

Google Chromecast is a widely used device to cast media from your Android device or laptop to the TV screen. You simply plug it into your HDMI TV port, use a USB cable to transfer. Your smartphone or laptop will act as a remote control and you can watch videos from various platforms like Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, etc. At $ 35, more and more people are interested in buying this handy device.

Sometimes, you will feel the need to factory reset your Google Chromecast device. Restoring the factory settings will delete all saved data and settings. This could be due to many reasons like-

· You have changed your wireless router. Chromecast only supports connecting to a single router. Therefore, you will have to delete your data to connect it to another network.

· When your Chromecast lags, hangs or freezes. To solve such problems, factory reset Google Chromecast is the best solution possible.

· You want to sell your Chromecast. Anyone who buys your old Chromecast device will not want your data and settings. So resetting the factory is a viable option here.

In such situations, you will have to reset your Chromecast. However, the instructions that come with it do not provide clear instructions on how to do that. Therefore, you will have to follow the instructions that I mentioned.

FACTORY RESET GOOGLE CHROMECAST USING THE DEVICE BUTTON

You can Factory Reset Google Chromecast using the button located on the side of the device. Follow these steps to know what you need to do.

· Let Chromecast plug in to your TV, then find and hold the circle button located on the side of your Chromecast. Check the space next to the micro USB port if you can't find it.

· Continue holding the button for about 30 seconds, until the LED starts flashing orange.

· Wait for a few seconds and when the LED turns white, release the button.

· The factory reset process will begin now.

· When done, disconnect the device from your TV and then plug it back in.

· That's it. This is how you factory reset the latest Chromecast models without any hassle.

FACTORY RESET GOOGLE CHROMECAST USING THE GOOGLE HOME APP

You can also use the Google Home app to reset your Chromecast. Follow these steps to know what you need to do.

· Let your Chromecast plug into the TV and turn on. If it is provided by an AC adapter plugged into the wall, you do not need to turn on the TV.

· Now visit the Google home app on your smartphone. This is the Chromecast control app on your device.

· Next, touch the ‘Device shown in the upper right corner of your screen.

· Then touch the three dots shown in the upper right corner of the screen and select Settings.

· If you have multiple Chromecast devices connected, then you need to jump into the device you need to reset first.

· You will be taken to the Device Settings now. Here, touch the three dots shown in the upper right corner of the screen.

· Select Factory Reset from the drop-down menu.

· Finally, confirm your selection by clicking Ok.

· Chromecast will perform a factory reset now.

· That's it. You can now set up your Chromecast right from the start.

Reset the order model of Google Chromecast using computer

If you are using older Google Chromecast models, then you will need a computer to effectively reset it. Follow these instructions to factory reset Google Chromecast via PC.

· Launch the Chromecast app on your PC. You can open it from the Start menu or by double clicking on the desktop shortcut.

· Now select the device you want to reset and click Install. If you only have one device connected, then you can click directly on Settings.

· Next, click the Restore factory settings option at the bottom of the window.

· Finally, click Reset to begin the factory reset process of your Chromecast. Wait until the process is complete and then you will have a brand new device in hand.

· That's it. Remember, you will need to perform the setup process again after resetting the device.

REBOOT GOOGLE CHROMECAST

If you have a small problem and not a big one, you can try to fix them by rebooting the device. There are two ways to reboot Chromecast. One is by using the Google Home app and the other is by unplugging the device. Let's take a look at both.

REBOOT USING THE GOOGLE HOME APP

· Let your Chromecast plug into the TV and turn on. If it is provided by an AC adapter plugged into the wall, you do not need to turn on the TV.

· Now visit the Google home app on your smartphone. This is the Chromecast control app on your device.

· Next, touch the ‘Device shown in the upper right corner of your screen.

· Then touch the three dots shown in the upper right corner of the screen and select Settings.

· Finally, click Ok to confirm your selection.

REBOOT BY UNPLUGING THE DEVICE

· First, unplug the power cord from the Chromecast device.

· Let it unplug for 1 minute or more.

· Now plug the power cord back in.

· This is a simple way to restart your Chromecast. Remember, unplugging the Chromecast from the HDMI HDMI TV port will not restart it. You must unplug it from the power source.

Note: Unplugging the Chromecast from the HDMI TV port does not restart the device. It must be disconnected from the power source to restart.
